Scotland set to hit the golfing jackpot this summer

Scotland, the Home of Golf will welcome the sport’s biggest stars this summer as a succession of world class events are set to take place across the country.

World Number five Justin Rose will return to the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, a Rolex Series event, at Gullane Golf Club. Sir Nick Faldo has confirmed he will return to the Old Course at St Andrews, the site of one of his most famous victories, for the 2018 Senior Open Presented by Rolex. Major champion Michelle Wie is set to headline the 2018 Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open and three time champion golfer Tiger Woods has confirmed his entry to play in the 147th Open at Carnoustie.

Paul Bush OBE, Director of Events said: “I’m delighted to see so many top names already signed up to play in these world-class tournaments this summer. The high calibre of these fields underlines the stature of all of the events and highlights the appeal that playing in Scotland, the Home of Golf has for even the world’s top players.”

Justin Rose will tee it up at The Scottish Open for the first time since 2015 – the last time Scotland’s National Open was hosted at the East Lothian venue.

The ten-time European Tour winner and reigning Olympic Champion produced a flawless final round to win the Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen four years ago.

Rose said: “The Scottish Open win in 2014 was definitely a memorable one. It was the first time I had gone two in a row, after winning in America the previous week. I really got to love the golf course and had a very special week.

“The last time I played at Gullane in 2015 I followed up with a sixth place finish in The Open, so I’m looking forward to teeing it up there again, and to two good weeks of links golf.

“The Scottish Open is a fantastic tournament and I’m glad to be back and vying to lift the trophy again. There’s definitely something special about playing golf in Scotland – the crowds are so knowledgeable and appreciate good play which always makes for a good atmosphere.”
