Gig at the Brig '13

Ellon's Gig at the Brig was one of the North East's premier Hogmanay celebrations. There was a licensed bar, hot and cold food and great music, what more did you need? Over 3500 friends brought in the New Year in a family friendly environment.

Conveniently located on Market Street, the Gig at the Brig went on till late with all ages enjoying the electric atmosphere as the music and entertainment took them into 2014.

The first Gig at the Brig event went very well and the crowds enjoyed a full night of entertainment from 4 musical acts as well as the Ellon & District RBL Pipe Band and a pipe duet and firework display at midnight.

Young local band, Casino Circus opened the live music with some of their own music and 2 covers specially prepared for the gig. Aberdeen band, Silver City Soul Revue had the crowd dancing and singing along to their soul classics before the Ellon & District RBL Pipe Band played from the old brig before another local lad, Jake Coghill, was given a great response from the crowd during his hour long set.

Headline act Terry McDermott and the Bonfires played their own music in the first of 2 sets before a short break to welcome in the new year with Pipe Major Drew Robertson and his Daughter Lillian and a firework display before launching into some rock classics that got him to the runner up position in the third season of The Voice USA.

The event drew to a close at 1a.m. with a couple of Scottish sing-alongs played by Graeme Clarke who kept the atmosphere going as MC and DJ for the night.

All acts were great and had the crowd seeing in the New Year in spectacular fashion.
